Empowering Minds: The Visionary Establishment of West Point School by Dr. B.C. Majhi

Dr. B. C Majhi, a renowned physician and former President of the Indian Medical Association, Bankura district, not only established and has been successfully running a charitable dispensary in Kesra for over thirty-two years, dedicated to providing healthcare to the underprivileged, but he also envisioned the establishment of a prestigious English Medium School in that disadvantaged area. Inspired by the ideals of Shantiniketan, Dr. Majhi aimed to provide quality education in line with contemporary needs, to meet the ever-growing demands of the new generation. To turn his vision into reality, he laid the foundation of West Point School at the prime location of Bankura town at the beginning of this century.

At West Point School, we embrace the profound responsibility of nurturing our students for a successful transition into adulthood. We strive to uphold the utmost standards in academic excellence and provide a holistic boarding experience encompassing a diverse range of activities. While we prioritize unlocking each student’s academic potential, we recognize that fostering responsibility, empathy, and self-esteem—essential qualities for adulthood—also arises from engagement in sports, music, drama, art, and various co-curricular pursuits. Our commitment extends beyond academics, empowering students to flourish in all facets of life.

“The function of education is to teach one to think intensively and to think critically. Intelligence plus character – that is the goal of true education.”

Martin Luther King Jr.
